US Government has assured India’s concern on the recent visa hike on the L1 and H1B Visa categories. Indian IT industries which make maximum use of the visa categories have considered the move to increase the visa fees as burdensome and will impact the sector economically.
According to the information from the sources, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has discussed the issue of the industry to the US President Obama. The US president assured him some positive measures and Indian Industries are optimistic and eagerly waiting for the decision of the Government.
India is the largest exporter of software services to the USA; Indian IT companies provide employment to US citizens and are the loyal taxpayers to the US Government.
According to the fees hike introduced by the US Government, H-1B visa fee increased $4000 from $2000, and L1 visa fee increased to $4500 from $2500. The India IT industries lobby, Nasscom has explained the impact of US move economically, annually $400 million would additionally cost to the Indian IT sector.
Indian Software Industry is the biggest user of the H-1B and L-1 visas. In 2014 US issued 67 percent of H1B visas to Indian software professionals and 28 percent L1 visas to the same.
However, Indian industries termed the move as discriminatory and India Government if issue not solved amicably, will go to the international court to lodge a complaint against US decision to increase the fees.
