17 Nov 2015

Immigration News

The UK may soon introduce first of its kind visa only to Indian students, and this visa would allow students to work for two years after passing out from British University.

Boris Johnson, Charismatic Mayor for London, who is pitted to be the successor for David Cameron, Prime Minister of UK, he would propose to the govt on Tuesday for the introduction of Common wealth Work visa.

It will be initially rolled out first to our nation India, and it will allow Indian Students going to the UK to live as well as work in UK for two years after finishing their degree irrespective what their salary is.

The second proposal that Johnson plans to float would be special work visa for students pursuing graduation in science, technology, engineering and Maths (STEM) for up to two years. Although it is not restricted to nationality, it would be attractive to Indian students for whom degrees are popular.

Indian students in London were the 3rd largest revenue generator for the city and in the year 2014, they have contributed a whopping £130 million. Johnson’s recent analysis has been found that students belonging to Indian origin have paid around 56 million pounds in fees and nearing to 74 million pounds for living cost. This money supports as well as creates 1643 jobs.

Nearing to 100,000 international student come to study in London each year, which the Mayor office says is more than in any other city in the world. The number of Indian students has declined to half from 39,090 in the year 2010-2011 to 19750 in the year 2013-2014 as per the official figures.

Estimates state that by the year 2024, one in every three outbound higher education student across the world is expected to be from India and China. By the year 2024, it is expected there would be 3.85 million outbound mobile higher education student globally. India and China would contribute 35% of the global growth during this particular period.
