Quebeq Unemployment Rate Decreased as Canada Adds More Jobs

Quebec grew to become the province of Canada with the 02nd-lowest rate of unemployment, as Canada continued to add 66,800 jobs in Jan, the recent figures show. 

The Quebec province observed the growth of employment 16,400 and a rate of unemployment 5.4%, against the country average of 5.8%. Only Province of British Columbia has a weaker unemployment rate than Quebec province, at 4.7%.

Overall Canada, employment is higher 327,000, or 1.8 percent, in the latest 12 months, divided evenly within full and part-time work.

Demographically, the monthly growth of employment was run by those aged within 15 to 24 years, which added 53,000 jobs in January.

Canadian Province Jobs

Despite Quebec being the largest mover in regards to the rate of unemployment, Ontario initiated the employment additions.

The largest province of Canada added 41,000 positions in Jan, although its rate of unemployment grew to 5.7% as more individuals looked for work. Over the latest 12 months, Ontario province has added 170,000 positions, a 2.4% increase.

Younger workers drove Quebec's 16,000 employment increase. Over the latest 12 months, Quebec province has added 38,000 positions, an increase of 0.9%.
 
Other Canadian provinces to view employment improvements were 6,100 in Nova Scotia, 4,800 in Newfoundland & Labrador, 4,400 Manitoba and 3,600 New Brunswick.
 

Jobs in Canada By Industry

Employment increase for Jan was run solely by service-producing industries, which attached 99,000 jobs. Retail trade and Wholesale led the way, attaching 34,000 jobs, largely in Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia.
