Peter Bruce, Business Day and Financial Mail, Editor-in-chief wrote an article saying business in South Africa is in trouble. Michael Bagraim, lawyer and labor analyst spoke to Talk @ 9 about the state of business and labor in South Africa. Bagraim says that the problem lies in politics in South Africa and not business. He stated that the government is not doing enough for small businesses, and if the government finds ways to improve small businesses, with just 1 million new businesses, it is easy to get 5 million new jobs. People with a knack for business can invest in South African business community
Bagraim added that the youth should be educated about starting and running businesses and the government would not exist without the business community as it functions on taxes. Over 60% of tax is paid by the business community, therefore without business there is no employment. People who do get jobs either find employment in the businesses or government.
Asked what the solution to the problem of unemployment is, Bagraim said business education is essential.
