If you plan to simply transfer through France en route to a third country, you have to apply for an airport transit visa and show the proof of an onward travel ticket) and a legal entry authorization (visa) for your required final destination. The airport transit visa allows entry into the airport area merely. Still, Indian passport holders having a definite air ticket and a legal visa for a member state of the European Union, US, UK, Canada, Ireland or Japan resident permit holders transiting France do not require this visa.
