Australia Expects Rise In Work Visas In Next Five Years

According to the Australia Federal Government Agency, the country is expected to be weighed down with millions of additional overseas employees over the coming five years.

It is expected that over one million overseas nationals with work privileges or 10% of country’s workforce are on temporary visas.

Executive for Fair Work Ombudsman, Natalie James said that the trends demonstrated that the number of foreign employees might increase in-between 2.5 to 3.5 million over the coming five years,

Overseas nationals with works rights or privileges include students, 457 skilled visa holders, working holiday-makers, and individuals on bridging visas.

Centre for Population and Urban Research (CPUR) directed by Dr Bob Birrell, Monash University welcomed Ms. James survey on the employment conditions of individuals on the 417 working holiday-maker visa, with issuance of 128,000 such visas, which were approved in the initial half of 2013-14.
