Chris Alexander, Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister, has announced that the latest changes to the Strengthening Canadian Citizenship Act are yielding benefits. Consequently, backlogs of citizenship are at their lowest figure in over two years, and applications are currently being processed more efficiently compared to earlier.
Government’s improvement to the citizenship Act saw that the decision making process for citizenship has come down from three steps to one. Other changes in the Act along with this are intended to enhance the integrity of the program and preserve the significance of Canadian citizenship.
Rise in number of decision makers will make sure that citizenship applications are dealt quickly and will decrease the backlogs.
It is likely that citizenship applications will be processed within a year in 2015/16 and will reduce the present backlog applications by over 80 percent.
Canadian government has executed changes to reinforce Canada’s citizenship program, which include declining of incomplete applications and a consistent system for official review of citizenship decisions.
The Immigration Minister said that the citizenship of Canada is highly cherished all over the world for which the government is dedicated to make sure that the worthy applicants are accepted into the Canadian family more quickly.
