US Universities Records 32% Increase In Number Of Indian Students

As per the recent official figures, the US colleges as well as universities have achieved a 32% increase in students’ number, from our nation, India. when compared to previous year.

The quarterly report about international students those studying in the US, which was released by SEVP as Part of (USICE) United States immigration & Customs Enforcement does state that, there has been nearing to 32% increase in the number of students from our nation, India since 2014.

It also mentions, 76% of international student belonged to Asia. The Top 10 nations from where international students came from , included are Brazil, Mexico, Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, South Korea, India and China.

The SEVP said, while comparing the statistics extracted from none other SEVIS 2014, we find that nearing to 24%  of F&M students studying in Texas State are from our nation, India, then followed by neighboring nation China with 17%.  The greatest increase we find, students studying in US are from Vietnam and India, at 25.9% and 31.9 % respectively. 

The maximum number of international students are from China, with 3, 00,000, second India with 1,50,000. The University of Southern California, Columbia University, Purdue University ,New York University, and the University of Illinois are ranked among top five US schools having most international students.

Presently there are about 1.5 million international students in the US, who are eligible to receive a F& M visa, to study in the nation. Among them, 405314 F& M Students are studying (STEM) Science, technology, engineering and Mathematics fields in the United States.

The Report also added that, nearing to 86 % of international students studying STEM course belonged to Asia. And we find more number of international students preferred studying engineering rather than any other STEM field of study, with about 29% of engineering students are from India. The report also added, about 81% of students belonging to India are from STEM field, highest for any country.
