Barack Obama, President of the USA, has appointed a leading Indian-American fundraiser, to a key administration post.
Azita Raji, San Francisco philanthropist, has been appointed on White House Fellowship as a Member of the President's Commission. She has reportedly raised more than $3 million in contributions for the 2011-2012 re-election campaign of Obama.
The announcement came along with nine more appointments to key administration posts.
Obama said in a statement that he is honored that these talented individuals have decided to join the Administration and serve the country and that he is looking forward to working with them.
Raji is a Trustee of Barnard College, a Co-Chair of Barnard's Development Committee and a founding Co-Chair of the Athena Center for Leadership Studies.
She even serves as a member of the Executive Committee, the Strategic Planning Advisory Group and the Investment Committee.
Raji received an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School and a BA in Architecture and French from Barnard College and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
She is a member of the Advisory Board of Columbia Business School's Social Enterprise Program, and in 2012, she was the National Finance Vice-Chair for Obama for America.
Azita Raji was previously being considered as US Ambassador to a European country – Switzerland or Italy, according to The Washington Post.
