CIC Minister Aims For 50,000 Applications Under Express Entry

Chris Alexander, the Canadian Minister for CIC laid stress on the fact that the government is advocating immigration under the Express Entry Program in a bid to get the needed skilled workforce in Canada. Alexander expressed his belief on the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce and its leadership as well as commitment in promoting bilateral ties between both the nations. He said that India was a vital partner in catering to the needs of Canada’s future. Also, Canada’s focus on the Indian market was attributed to the fact that India was the biggest source for alluring new investors and for economic immigration.

The forthcoming visit of Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister will do much to enhance the relations between these two countries. It will help to develop investment and trade as well as chart a course for the act of human resources and capital on an upward scale. At the ICCC meeting, Alexander laid stress on the fact that it was essential to simplify the visa process so that it takes lesser time to fulfill the immigration requirements in future. There’s a target of processing 50,000 applications under the express entry program this year.

The slated time for processing visit visa is 6 to 30 days and these visitor visas are given for a period of 10 years time for families and businesses. More number of visa processing centers to facilitate processing will be opened in India. Also, 20,000 students have been granted permanent residency status, most of whom are Indians.
