Denmark tops the list of corruption-free countries across the globe, a report published by the Transparency International’s annual Corruption Perception Index (CPI) revealed.
CPI is the most commonly used measurement of corruption and ranks nations and territories on the scale of 0 (highly corrupted) to 100 (corruption-free), depending on the corruption with regards to their administrative and political institutions.
Notably, over 175 countries are overseen in the survey and Denmark occupies the first position in the newly published 2014 edition.
With no bribery and an open and well-functioning public sector, Denmark scored 92 points out of 100, ahead of New Zealand (91), Finland (89), Sweden (87) and Norway (86). And, the survey reveals that over two thirds of the countries have scored below 50.
Denmark has continuously topped the chart of least-corrupted countries yet another time for all good reasons such as strong rule of law, support for civil society and clear rules governing the behavior of public bodies. This aspect is considered as the significant parameter for many overseas companies considering investing in Denmark.
Apparently, its safe business environment has made Denmark the best place to do business. Also, the country stood in number one position in Europe with regards to ease of doing business, according to the World Bank.
