The business secretary, Javed rejected the calls made to, make it less strigent visa system for students belonging to other nation, eventhough the experts have stated that such move would boost the UK’s lagging productivity.
To make improvements in productivity, the govt has introduced plan. Javed thinks, foreign students should not be permitted to stay in UK once they complete their education unless they qualify themselves for work visa.
Javed stated that he does not think the foreign students should be permitted to stay in the nation once they finish their studies unless they qualify for the work visa.
In Birmingham, he told the audience that recent graduates should apply for work visa alongside prospective migrants, no matter how skilled they are.
The institutes of Directors, have criticized his position and it would do more harm to the British economy.
Head of Employment and skills policy at the IOD said, the business secretary’s proposals to eject the foreign students after graduation is misguided and would damage the British education system, our economy as well as global influence.
Other nations do welcome such students but we have already made it difficult and artificially expensive for foreign students both to stay as well as enter. And this proposal would definitely eject them, when their studies are finished.
Mr Javed was launching a set of propose help UK to improve productivity, which presently lags behind other major economies which include Germany, France and US.
He argued that if Britain was productive as US, the gross domestic product would be 31% higher and extra £21,000 per household.
On Friday, Mr Javed made announcement that there would be shake up of vocational planning, cutting back on the number of qualifications offered so that employers can navigate the system more easily.
