Although, in the previous year the demand for workers was comparatively less. But we are not witnessing an increase in the need for workers in various segments, according to Busis survey by Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (Nav) for 2013.
A quarter of companies expect growth in employment for next year, while a decline is expected by 11%. This expectation is similar to last year, said Labor and Welfrae Director Joakim Lystad to ANB. Major growth is estimated in property management and services, followed by quarrying and mining. In construction industry, a slow growth is expected, while printing industry and pulp and paper are expected to have a slump in development.
The largest section of industries expecting increase in employment level is observed in Oslo, while Aust-Agder and Oppland are on contrast. The shortage is highest in nursing, health, engineering, teaching and ICT. This was similarly witnessed in 2012, whereas demand for engineering jobs has declined from last year, says Lystad.
15% of industries surveyed say they have problems with hiring, and most of them say it is because of lack of skilled applicants. The survey is based 12,200 firms responses.
