In a bid to ease the visa process for Indian nationals, the government of India is urging Russia to streamline the approval of visas for its nationals.
A TASS correspondent, came to know about this proposal from Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs, Alexei Pushkov, in a meeting, which was held between Indian and Russian parliamentarians led by the State Duma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin and Lok Sabha Speaker of Indian Parliament Sumitra Mahajan.
Alexei Pushkov said that Indians approached Russia with an urge to streamline visa regime, especially with respect to procedures for the approval of long-term business visas and minimizing the time it takes to process credentials on a whole.
In November 2014, India has introduced electronic visas for visitors from 43 nations, along with Russia. These visas are granted only in four days after submitting necessary credentials via a special site, and apply to business or tourist visitors residing in India for a maximum period of 30 days, as well to individuals arriving to the country to meet their friends or relatives or for visiting for any medical treatment.
The move of facilitating Russia visa regime would benefit a number of individuals from India who want to move to Russia for business or tourism purpose.
