'Saskatchewan Experience' A New Category In SINP

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has undergone a few changes recently and the program now has 3 new immigration categories. Here, we’ll take a look at the changes to the ‘Saskatchewan Experience’ Category.

‘Saskatchewan Experience’ Category

This category is tailored for individuals who are presently living and working in Saskatchewan and consists of the following 5 sub-categories:

• Health Professionals
• Existing Work Permit
• Hospitality Sector Pilot Project
• Long Haul Truck Drivers
• Students

Currently, these programs exist as part of the SINP. There are no changes to the first 4 sub-categories. However, there are a few changes in the Students sub-category. These changes include:

• Students who graduated from a school outside of Saskatchewan need to have a skilled job offer in Saskatchewan which is relevant to their education, and need to work in the province for a minimum of 2 years before applying.
• Students who graduated from a Saskatchewan school need to have a skilled job offer in Saskatchewan which is relevant to their education, or a job offer that necessitates a post-secondary education. They need to work in the province for at least 6 months before applying; and
• The Master’s, PhD Graduate and Post Graduation Work Permit sub-categories, will be merged to create one general Students sub-category;

Till 31^st December, 2013, an additional 250 applications from out-of-province graduates and an additional 150 applications from Saskatchewan graduates will be accepted for review.

The other two categories that are included in the SINP are: ‘International Skilled Worker’ and ‘Entrepreneur and Farm’.
