2014 Visit Malaysia Year

The refrain, `Malaysia, Truly Asia’, was constantly in the air at a three-day carnival chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Tun Razak as he exhorted the people to welcome tourists when the country celebrates 2014 as the year of `Visit Malaysia.’

Datuk Razak said every Malaysian should strive to give good tourist experience in the country. When they go back home, the tourists would spread good words about their visit to this country.

Last year the number of tourists who visited the country numbered 25 million, and for next year the authorities had fixed 28 million as the figure.

“Every Malaysian needs to make the success of this campaign a national project and mission, and everyone should show a tourist-friendly attitude to let tourists feel that when they visit Malaysia, they are accepted with polite and friendly treatment from locals,” Datuk Razak said on the occasion.

The Prime Minister averred that despite the promotional work done by the various ministries and agencies, the best advertisement would be the experience of tourists themselves. Hence all the people must become tourist-friendly.

Malaysia’s rock queen, Ella, crooned the theme song, “Malaysia, Truly Asia,” on the occasion, and the song would be used worldwide for the promotional campaign.
