Led by Mayor Katarina Hansson, a 5-member delegation from Kumla city of Sweden visited the Infopark to study the growth plans in Kerala's IT sector and investment opportunities.
Infopark is home to 110 IT companies that operate with more than 18,000 experts in the sector and is scheduled for greater stature with the go ahead received for the Smart City Kochi IT campus.
Hrishikesh Nair, CEO of Infopark updated the Swedish delegation on general IT initiatives of Kerala and on Infopark's role specifically.
According to Hansson, the delegation was here to look at different investment opportunities in Kochi and to study the usefulness on projects that can be carried out between Kumla and Kochi.
The mayor said that they are fascinated by the infrastructure facilities at Infopark for the growth of IT and the way this industry is altering the society.
The delegation was interested in investment opportunities in the areas of education, waste management, drinking water, e-governance and information technology after touring the Infopark and also interacting with CEOs of top IT companies.
The visit is a follow up to last year’s meeting between the Kochi corporation and the Swedish International Council for Local Democracy on mutually beneficial ventures.
