09 May 2019
Migration Agents that have participated in the current week’s CPD on Skilled Work Regional (Subclass 491) (Provisional) and
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Subclass 494) (Provisional) visas. It was a group attempt to work with the legislation which is due to start on 16th Nov 2019 and 16th Nov 2022 respectively.
Launching of three latest visas also indicates that Skilled Regional Provisional (subclass 489), as well as Regional Sponsored (subclass 187) Migration visas, will be removed once the law is executed.
Summary of the CPD Meeting
Subclass 491 and 494 visas will be launched together on 16 Nov 2019 and will be valid for five years. A candidate holding a 491 or 494 visa can change to permanent regional (subclass 191) skilled visa after three years.
The legislation also proposes restrictions in terms of another type of visas, and an aspirant can appeal for while holding a subclass 491 or subclass 494 visa. The limits will be included in the schedule 1 provision of specific types of visas along with partner visa application. The goal is to prevent subclass 491 and 494 visa holders leaving their nominated regional area.
Appeals for subclass 489 and subclass 187 visa lodged on or before 16th Nov will remain to be processed as per present arrangements. It eliminates any expressions of interest to appeal for a subclass 489 visa, except an invitation is made, and the visa has been appealed for, a candidate will not get an invitation for
Skilled regional (subclass 489) visa next to 15th Nov 2019.
Selected Regional Area has been redefined, and additional information will be accessible once legislation is announced. It is understood that the scope of the regional area will continue broad.
Both Subclasses do not seem to build any reference to schedule III which is great news for candidates that have a Bridging Visa A, B or C.
Visa Fee
Fees concerning subclass 191 visas seem to be surprisingly cheaper than expected:
The base charge of application (payable by a candidate attempting to fulfill the primary criteria) is $385
The extra candidate charge (payable by a candidate attempting to fulfill the secondary criteria whose appeal is associated with that of a primary applicant) is:
