The mutual efforts of Canada and Australia have resulted in more than 100 countries now having access to eMedical, the latest electronic health processing system that facilitates cost efficient visa processing.
This is an improved version of the earlier eHealth system that had maintained the online health repots of visa applicants who go through their health examinations for the immigration departments of Canada and Australia.
A spokesman for DIBP (Department of Immigration and Border Control) stated that increased usage of eMedical will bring in considerable benefits to the Department of Border Protection (DIBP) and for their clients as well. This includes improvised services to the clients, enhancing integrity and significantly saving the finances.
He explained that the department has been working closely with CIC (Citizenship and immigration Canada) from 2011 onwards aiming to have progress in the health processing system. The mutual aim of the eMedical is to increase the effectiveness of visa processing for both the organizations, while sharing the development and supports costs with each other. As a result, the immigration medical exam systems of both of the countries would be more secure, would reduce the possible errors, save the time of the applicants and protect their privacy.
The project demonstrated the practical achievements possible through the united effort of 5 conference partners (5CC) i.e. New Zealand, Canada, United States, United Kingdom and Australia.
The ultimate aim of the 5CC countries will be to use eMedical for clients and immigration panel physicians by an efficient means.
In 2012, eMedical system was released to the health department of the Australian immigration department. More than 120,000 health cases of Australia have been processed through the new system. Nearly 78% of the eMedical cases are now being cleared automatically.
The spokesman additionally stated that they would continue their effort to reach their aim of achieving 100% electronic health processing for immigration health examinations of Australia.
