The UK government has promised to enhance its skilled migration system to accelerate economic growth and to achieve the increasing demand for international workers in some sectors.
The UK government will examine the skilled migration profession lists to decide which jobs can be filled by abroad workers. Michaelia Cash, Employment and Skills Minister published the review in reply to concerns that the present list of about 500 professions does not match the demand for skilled international workers in a few sectors.
The analysis of the lists, which were previously updated in March 2019, will also concentrate on assuring there are sufficient workers to promote the government's 10-year $100 billion program infrastructure.
Skilled migration has forever been a part of this nation's prosperity, but we require assuring we are receiving the right skilled migrants fulfilling the skills deficits.
Higher than 80,000 skilled visas were awarded in the previous financial year, with employment in the ICT sector which is the most popular.
However, different types of professions such as in-demand data scientists will not be able to be attached as the profession lists are restricted by the official worker classification ANZSCO which has not been revived since 2013.
Jarrod Ball, Economic Development Centre of Australia chief, said that made it challenging for firms, especially in the technology sector.
While the latest Global Talent Scheme has been executed to try to allow the tech industry, along with startups, to recruit highly-skilled international workers, Mr. Ball told those jobs need to be shown in the mainstream of skilled migration system.
The study will consider jobs on 3 separate lists comprising medium-long term stays, temporary skilled workers, and regional professions.
As part of the Australian Government "congestion-busting" policy, the latest visas have been designed to support migrants to work and live outside the main cities.
Mr. Ball told there was a mixed indication about the achievement of previous efforts to encourage the number of skilled international workers in regional areas.
Discussion with stakeholders is underway and the profession lists are anticipated to be modified in March next year.
Australian migration program needs that no less than two-thirds of permanent visas given to work and live in Australia be given to skilled migrants.
