Australian DIBP Reopens Non-Contributory Parent And Other Family Visas

DIBP has started accepting new applications for the following visa subclasses under the family stream of migration program with effect from 25 September 2014.

• Carer visa (subclasses 116 and 836).
• Remaining Relative visa (subclasses 115 and 835)
• Aged Dependent Relative visa (subclasses 114 and 838)
• Aged Parent visa (subclass 804)
• Parent visa (subclass 103)

The legislation that stopped accepting the applications for non-contributory parent and other Family visas on 02 June 2014 was answerable to the non acceptance motion in the senate on 25 September 2014.  Closed applications have been reopened immediately, following the success of this motion.

Therefore, if the applications were submitted for any of these visas after 02 June 2014 and prior to 25 September 2014, they will not be valid and the department will not accept those applications. One needs to submit the application once again.

However, the applications for non-contributory parent and other family visa, which were filed prior to 02 June 2014, will be processed based on the current policy and regulations.
