Australian Government Announces Reforms In Work And Holiday Visa

Scott Morrison, Australian Prime Minister while touring Queensland on 5 Nov 2018 declared important changes to the Programme of Working Holiday Visa.

The programme of Working Holiday Maker has 02 types of visas:

• Work and Holiday visa (Subclass 462)
• Working Holiday visa (Subclass 417)

Depending on where you are from and also will depend on which type of visa you can appeal for.

You can appeal for the Working Holiday (Subclass 417) visa if you are from Canada, United Kingdom, Belgium, Estonia, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Germany, Japan, Italy, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Republic of Ireland, Republic of Korea, Republic of Cyprus, Taiwan and Sweden.

You can appeal for the Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa if you are from Austria, Argentina, The People’s Republic of China, Chile, Hungary, Czech Republic, Israel, Indonesia, Malaysia, Luxembourg, Peru, Portugal, Poland, San Marino, Slovak Republic, Singapore, Spain, Slovenia, Turkey, Thailand, Uruguay, USA, and Vietnam.

These visas enable you to live and work in Australia in all types of part-time, full-time, casual, voluntary and shift work for up to 12 months. You can omit and re-enter Australia any number of times till the visa is valid.

You can also study for four months maximum in Australia in extension to working through your holiday. You should meet specific character, health, and financial conditions and indicate that you will appreciate Australian values and follow Australian laws prior to the visa is granted.

You must also have a to and fro tickets or the funds for a ticket to leave Australia. Insurance for Health from your own country is also preferred.

Reforms to Working Holidaymaker Visas

Below the suggested amendments if you holding a Work and Holidaymaker (subclass 462) visa you will be able to engage regional animal and plant cultivation work in further priority areas to become qualified for a second visa.

There will be an initiation of a 3rd year visa option for subclasses 462 and 417 visa holders from 1 Jul 2019 onwards, if you achieve six months of local work in the 2nd year. The Government of Australia has also declared it will boost the number of these visas given in each calendar year.
