Austria Ranks Third In Tourism Competitiveness: World Economic Forum

Austria ranks third in the world in terms of travel and tourism competitiveness, according to a report of the World Economic Forum.

“The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2013,” examining a total of 140 countries, put Switzerland and Germany at the top two places.

It is “a respectable success for our tourism – we score with infrastructure, culture, nature, safety, and food,” said Hans Schenner, head of the Tourism and Leisure Industry Section at the Federal Economic Chamber.

Austria ranks first in tourism infrastructure, and also receives very good reviews for environment and sustainability (at sixth place), and security and tourism disposition (both at seventh place). Other strengths include hygiene, water quality and health care.

But the country lagged at the 131st place when it comes to cost.
