British Columbia issues 284 invitations immigration aspirants to apply for a BC provincial nomination for Canada PR and made two significant changes about immigrant entrepreneurs in this week.
The British Columbia's Provincial Nominee Program (B.C. P.N.P) declared invitations to apply to applicants in the Express Entry BC Category and Skills Immigration Category.
The Skills Immigration Stream is for skilled workers & semi-skilled workers whose professions are In-demand in the BC province. Both categories need applicants to register using B.C.’s Registration System of Skills Immigration (SIRS), which provides qualified applicants with a score based on several parameters such as their offer of employment, place in B.C., educational level, language proficiency, and salary. The minimum required score was between 85 and 110 points in the most recent invitation round.
B.C. PNP typically announces invitations every week. So far in 2020, they have issued a total of 585 invitations to apply to immigration applicants in the Express Entry B.C. Category and Skills Immigration Category.
Reforms to the BC Entrepreneur- Base Category came into force on 29 January 2020 and do not impact on the current processing of applications.
B.C. launched a minimum C.L.B requirement of level 4 or higher to qualify. The province of BC said it is changing these criteria to impact the integration of newcomers into Canada, along with other reasons. It also joins with the language specification of the B.C. Entrepreneur- Regional Pilot.
Proposed B.C. Entrepreneur- Base Category applicants will no longer have the power to propose principal staff in their applications.
Before the reforms, entrepreneurs could add key staff members to their applications who had expertise that is crucial to the success of their planned business. However, between Jul 2015 and Nov 2019, only 4% of all entrepreneur immigration applications added key staff. The low usage drove the province to remove the key staff option altogether.
So far in 2020, B.C. has issued 18 ITAs to entrepreneurs through the B.C. Entrepreneur- Base Category, and 7 ITAs through the B.C. Entrepreneur - Regional Pilot. Last year 232 entrepreneurs have received invitations through the Base Category and 57 invitations through the Regional Pilot Category.
