Pakistani President Zardari’s visit will indeed be of much significance as both India and Pakistan are hoping that the bilateral visa arrangement existing between the two countries would be liberalized.
Both the countries had earlier agreed upon to liberalize the business visas. It is hoped that the decision of theirs would now be given concrete shape. One is not sure whether the agreement would be signed at the time of President Zardari’s visit or perhaps soon after.
Although the British had created the differences between the two countries as they felt there was no unity between the peoples of both countries, yet the cultural and historical backgrounds bring about affinity between the two countries.
Immigration to either Pakistan or India has always been a bone of contention by citizens of either country as the relationship has been rather strained.
Bilateral ties would bring both countries closer to each other and perhaps reduce the existing tensions prevailing in the region. Off late, both Pakistan and India had been able to reconcile their differences on account of the terrorists’ activities. But now it is hoped that visa availability would be much easier.
It is hoped with the relaxation of bilateral visa arrangements, more trade activities will take place, and businessmen of respective countries would be in a better position to visit respective countries and make investments confidentially.
Also relaxation of visa rules would enable common people also to visit each other’s countries. It is hoped that the relaxation of visa rules would be in the larger interests of the people on the whole and immigration processes would more liberalized.
