Starting from November 24th, non Europeans who hold Schengen visa would require brand new, biometric e-passports so that they can gain entry to the Schengen zone.
The Schengen area is a multi-state zone which is overlapping largely with European Union which does permit the passport free travel between its member states. Amid rising security concerns and a vexing refugee crises, the European official have been lately sought to further increase the security parameters inorder to access to the area and the requirement for biometric passport is considered to be latest such measure.
The requirement does come in as increasingly sophisticated automated border control systems have been installed at Schengen borders and few European officials do call even for tougher restrictions which include the scanning of biometrics of EU nationals in addition to those visitors from abroad.
While the shift to biometric border control does appear to be particularly urgent for numerous European officials, it is trend underway across the world with similar measures underway in nations such as Saudi Arabia and our Nation India.
