This year, the British workers are enjoying life more than their French and German colleagues and more than last year.
According to the Regus annual Work-Life Balance report, based on a business poll of 26,000 professionals across the globe, revealed that there is a worldwide dip in well-being over the last year. However, the UK bucked this trend, up 5 points to 109 from 104.
The global average was 120 with France at 100 and Germany at 101 dipping below the UK while USA scored 117. One of the most pronounced in the world is the satisfaction gap between the UK's younger and older workforce.
X and Y (born after 1964) generations reported that they enjoyed work three times more than Baby Boomers. They also believe they achieved more than in former years (77% compared to 63%).
Few more results from the MindMetre conducted survey are:
* Highest Index Score is secured by staff in consultancy and
service-based industries at 116;
* 60% of employees enjoy work more than previous year;
* 65% of business owners enjoy work more than previous year;
* 54% of Baby Boomers enjoy work more now than in previous years
compared to 71% of younger workers.
John Spencer, CEO of Regus UK said that employers must recognize the importance of work-life balance not only for their own & their staff’s health, but for the company as a whole too.
He insisted that happy workers are less likely to leave and more productive too. Spencer also mentioned that as the jobs market improves, companies that will be successful in retaining their talent are those who actively promote work-life balance.
