Canada All Set To Launch Express Entry Program By January 2015

The Government of Canada is set to introduce a new active recruitment model named as Express Entry, effective January 2015. This program will revamp the existing Canada’s immigration system.

Currently, the immigration system is an applicant driven responsive program where interested aspirants need to submit an application, which will be evaluated by the Canadian Government. The new model will help to transform the current immigration system to one that is more efficient, convenient and focused on addressing economic and labor needs of the country.

Through Express Entry program, skilled immigrants will be able to provide information electronically to the government with regards to skills, work experience, academics, biographical data and language proficiency. The applicant’s data will be evaluated on a human capital grid, which is not yet introduced. The Express Entry ensures that it invites the applicants who meet the requirements of the particular employer to file a permanent residence application based on the human capital score.

Express Entry program will be applicable for some economic immigration categories which include Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).

It has to be mentioned here that applicants of the FSWP, CEC, and FSTP need to qualify in the Express Entry program. Also, the new program will give a chance for provinces and territories to identify more provincial nominees for the PNPs.    

Qualified applicants of Express Entry program will have their applications processed within six months. Moreover, this program enables employers to select economic immigrants. However, applicants who are invited will only be able to file an application.
