Australia and Canada have increased the age range and signed an agreement which permits youths from both the countries to have access for a Work-Permit in their country. Additionally, the Canadians in the age range of 18 -35 years can now live and work in Australia by using the International Experience Canada. Citizens of Australia in the same age range will get reciprocal benefits in Canada.
Canadians prefer Australia as a top destination in the program, from the 34 countries which have a similar agreement. The aim of IEC is making it easier for youths to experience living/working in a different country. So far around 200,000 Canadians have used it. It originated in 1965.
Ahmed Hussen, Immigration Minister stated that the expansion in the age range will give them the opportunity to have a broad perspective of the happenings in the world. Moreover, they can gain professional work experience in the course of traveling.
