Citizenship and immigration Canada (CIC) has announced new guidance for staff dealing with work permits applications of Intra Company Transferees having specialized knowledge.
The new guidance, which is initiated as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan 2014, will ensure that temporary foreign workers including Intra Company Transferees will not be a disadvantage to Canadian workers.
According to CIC’s new guidance to its staff, specialized worker under this program have to exhibit specialized knowledge acquired through outstanding and recent experience with the company. He must demonstrate proprietary knowledge of the company's product, equipment, research, service, techniques or management and knowledge at advanced level of expertise.
Specialized Knowledge can be demonstrated by displaying skills which are unusual and cannot be transferred easily to another person in a short duration, extraordinary expertise within the industry as well as host firm, expertise which is significant to business of Canadian branch or proficiency about the business process that is not well known over the organization and not expected to be available in Canadian labor market.
CT workers must be employed and be under direct supervision of the Canadian employer. They must have worked full time for a minimum one year for the employer.
However, these new guidelines will not be applicable to US or Mexico applicants who will be regulated by old rules.
