Canada Funding In 824 Projects To Help Immigrants For Better Integration

The Canadian Government will be funding higher than 800 initiatives that would support immigrants in Canada to integrate into the communities of Canada. A sum of 824 projects have been chosen by the Refugee, Immigration, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for funding, notified in a media release announced recently by the Canadian Government. All these projects are intended to assist newcomers in Canada in their attempts to adapt to Canadian life.

The chosen projects span over Canada and are assumed to help immigrants in Canada to fully engage in cultural, civic, social, and economic life once they begin residing in the country. Canada invited recommendations in this regard in the year 2019, and the 824 initiatives and projects were selected from the appeals received.

Publishing the Government’s resolution to fund these initiatives, Ahmed Hussen, Canadian Immigration Minister said that when Canada invested in supporting immigrants to learn the language, obtain employment, and make a successful life, all of Canada would relish their benefits.

Majority of the Selected Projects Support Immigrants

Most of the initiatives chosen for funding are associated with:

• Language teaching and also workplace-based language training
• Job and entrepreneurial services
• Assistance for French-speaking immigrants
• Vulnerable populations Integration including women, senior citizens, and LGBTQ immigrants
• Programs to strengthen the mental health and welfare of immigrants

Language education will be provided to immigrants in both the formal languages of Canada. The services linked to employment opportunities will help immigrants in Canada gain the skills and knowledge they require to achieve success in the Canadian labor market.

Some preferred initiatives would also encourage newcomers to make associations with their regional communities. The funding of the accepted projects is assumed to begin on 1 April 2020, and end by 31 March 2025.

Last year, the Canadian government announced it would invest CAD 1 billion for supporting migrants to integrate into Canadian life. Canada is further planning to receive one million immigrants within the following three years.
