Canada Government Allows Firms To Recruit More Temporary Workers

The Federal Canada Government relaxed immigration policies that allow the Canadian firms to recruit more number of foreign workers under the temporary foreign worker program. The Government’s decision is a great relief to the seafood industry in Canada.

The previous Government initiative was to reduce the seasonal foreign workers from 20 percent to 10 percent in its industries from July 1 2016. The conservative Government’s move would impact the number of seasonal workers working in the industry. The temporary visas encourage the low wage employers to work in Canada during the peak time of the industries that require more work forces, suppose the tourism industry requires more workers during the holiday seasons.

The Canada seasonal temporary workers program employs the foreign nationals for 180 days, there is no labor market impact assessment required for this category. From 2016 the Canadian employers will not have any caps on the number of employees to be allowed to enter the Canada.

The Canada Immigration has numerous visa programs for skilled workers, under Canada express entry the immigrants are allowed through three categories such as Canada Federal Skilled Workers program, Canada Skilled Trades program and Canada Experience class, these are the long term visas and permanent residence visas. In the future course of time the skilled professionals can become the Canadian Nationals.

The Canada Immigration Minister said that the small businesses of Canada require more number of skilled professionals to work in its enterprises. The Atlantic region of the Canada requires more number of workers and the sea food processing industry is lobbying for more number of workers.

There is a concern from the few people that the Canadian firms will not encourage the modern techniques for food processing if the cheap labor is available to the Canadian employers.
