Here’s some exciting news for all foreign employees who would like to work in Canada. The government of Canada has approved an exception to Microsoft that enables the firm to bring indefinite number of temporary overseas employees to British Columbia— Canada province, as trainees without seeking Canadians to fill the jobs.
A recently published notice on the site of Citizenship and Immigration Canada said that, overseas employees would get a particular training in a human resources development centre in British Columbia. The tech authorities don’t need to perform a labor market impact assessment (LMIA).
The exception was issued under the provincial-federal contract that provides a pass to firms that get provincial approval.
The government of Canada asserted that the deal is the result of a Microsoft significant investment that would generate jobs for Canadian nationals also at the latest 400-person training centre.
The Canadian government notice stated that the new training and development centre would concentrate on "software and engineering. In addition, the new center would add 400 jobs, which includes paid internships for students of Canada and long-term workers and at the same time bring more foreign workers into rotational training positions for a period of 18 months.
The notice also stated that overseas employees will be given 24-month work permits that enable them to reside in Canada, until they are moved by Microsoft into a new position in another place.
The spokesperson of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Sonia Lesage, in an email said that the overseas trainees will arrive to Canada under International Mobility Program, whereas other overseas citizens at the facility would be liable to all standard regulations of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program or International Mobility Program (IMP), based on their particular situation.
