Quebec Province introduced a few major changes in the requirements for international students and for the persons with work experience to get permanent residence. These changes influence the Quebec Experience Program or PEQ. Also these changes will begin to take effect from November 1, 2019, and some will commence in 2020. There is no confirmation from the province whether the changes will impact the pending applications. A major change is introducing the in-demand occupations list, but it is available in the French language only, for all worker applicants.
Additionally the persons having provincial work experience wishing to apply in PEQ should have worked in a job present on the list. The quantum of work experience necessary depends on the NOC code of a job.
The workers in occupations belonging to the in-demand list rated as NOC 0, A, B should possess 12 months work experience in Quebec.
The workers in occupations belonging to the NOC C/D jobs appearing on the list should possess 18 months work experience in Quebec.
Furthermore, the International students who apply to the PEQ must ensure that their training area is one of the degrees listed in Quebec in section A/B of the Quebec Area Training list.
Requirements in Language
Starting from January 1, 2020, a few changes in language requirements will create an impact on both categories belonging to PEQ applicants.
For showing French proficiency these applicants get three options:
Also spouse visa applicants will be impacted by the new language requirements. Both the spouse and the applicants must demonstrate a high level of French, or CLB 7.
