Canada Is The 2nd Favorite Migrant Destination

A new poll of nationals in favorite migrant destinations revealed that Brazil, Canada and Australia have the most welcoming citizens.

Ipsos, the UK/Irish research company was responsible for the survey, which found that Brazil was the most welcoming country of all, with 47% of respondents saying they had a positive attitude towards arrivals from overseas. Canada and Australia came second and third, with 43% and 36% of citizens welcoming immigrants.

Other findings concluded that those countries with higher educational qualifications were more likely to see immigration in a positive light than those whose education was basic. Over 60% of Canadians with higher education qualifications stated that immigration was sure to benefit Canadian society as a whole.

Canada is planning to increase the intake of immigrants in 2013, with several new programs aimed at encouraging applications from skilled workers ready to take employment in more remote regions. Currently, with Australian immigration rules off-putting to many, and Brazil being an unknown quantity for most of the Western would-be migrants, Canada seems to be most desirable migrant destination.
