Also, as per a latest rule, all applicants desirous to moving to Canada will require passing a compulsory language test to prove their efficiency as against the earlier rule of showing a written proof of English or French language.
On 29 June 2010, Canadian immigration minister Jason Kenney stated that permanent residency will be provided in Canada to immigrants possessing high skills which are in high demand in Canada labor market. As part of the plans under immigrant investor program, all prospective immigrants desirous of moving to Canada will be required to show a net work of $1.6 million and invest $800,000 in Canada. Earlier, immigrant investors were required to exhibit net worth of $800,000 and investment to the tune of $400,000.
A change in the limit for occupations under federal skilled worker program was 38 which were reduced to 29 due to increased supply of available workforce. Out of the 38, 20 categories were removed and 11 categories were included. Also, candidates need to possess one year work experience of either full time continuous or paid employment in a minimum of one occupation.
