The economy in Canada was successful in adding 10,000 jobs during September 2017. A major part of it was in full-time employment, as per the figures revealed by Statistics Canada. The rate of jobless was 6.2 percent during that month.
The goods-producing sector created 10,500 jobs, in the construction sphere but it lost 500 jobs, under the services sphere in the IT culture and recreation sector.
Commenting on it Derek Holt, Vice President of Economics at Scotia bank said that it was a hawkish development and reinforces the expectations of Bank of Canada about upward movement on wage and price pressures.
The major development is the acceleration in wage growth from 0.5% seen in April and the present rate 2.2 percent. There will be increased pressure in the next year in the wages.
There is a likelihood of receiving some communication from Bank of Canada regarding some post-jobs interpretation, hints, and guidelines. There is merit to monitor the facts and conditions in the financial market after these developments.
The US statistics would encourage the Bank indirectly. The North American supply chains would be boosted and the indication is that the wage pressure would be firm enough to lift the Fed and the Bank.
Paul Ferley, Assistant Chief Economist, RBC said that it indicates the success of Canadian economy to generate jobs, even when the pace is slow during the month. There will be continued growth to see but at a slow pace, he added. The growth in full-time jobs overturned the decline witnessed in August. It also indicates that business of Canada can absorb additional workers but at a moderate pace. The overall GDP growth has slowed down and can be below 4 percent which was seen during the last year.
