Canada Revamps Immigration System From 1 January 2015

The government of Canada is revamping its immigration system with the start up of new immigration system for choosing economic immigrants, which comes into force 1 January 2015.

The new Express Entry is a complete electronic system, which utilizes certain criteria to assign ranks for individuals who are interested to migrate to Canada under various skilled immigration programs such as; skilled trades program, Canadian Experience Class program and skilled worker program.

Although the government has used the points system a long back to decide who are eligible to immigrate, the new immigration program is diverse and it automate the entire immigration process in a better way. Under the new system more points are allotted for the individuals who already have a job offer.

Highest ranked individuals will be invited by the Canadian government to apply for PR under any of the Canada immigration programs.

The main motto behind this new system is to create connection between both the Canadian employers and individuals who could fill the available jobs when no eligible Canadians are available.

With an intention to reduce backlog and improve the processing time the new system has been set to launch. Under the new system the government only decides who can apply for Canada immigration.

Starting at the end of January 2015 and between 15 and 25 times a year, the Canadian government holds draw to choose applicants for permanent residency.

The number of individuals selected and timing differ so that government can consider factors such as number of genuine profiles in the pool and variations in the labor market.

During the period of 2015, the Canadian government is a intending to accept between 172,100 and 186,700 individuals under economic group of immigrants.

The government of Canada is going to publish the dates of each draw, the number of applicants who receive an invitation and if applicable, and under which specific program will be included.

The government would specify how many invitations were granted and also the least ranked score it accepted.

Individuals who get invitation will have a 60-day time period to apply for PR.

According to the government from the time a complete application is received and final choice being made with a period of six months in 80% of cases.

The government of Canada plans to twist the system further, enabling employers’ access to pool of applicants

Later in 2015, the government plans to tweak the system further, allowing employers access to the pool of applicants to proactively seek people who could be a good fit the vacant jobs, when Canadians are not found.
