The Canadian government announced regarding reducing the time limit for applications seeking permanent residence when the candidates receive an I.T.A. through the Express Entry.
Presently, candidates receiving an I.T.A. get 90 days for submitting the electronic Applications for Permanent Residency. The government has reduced this time limit now to 60 days.
EFFECTIVE DATE
This change will take effect from June 26th, 2018. A person who received the I.T.A. before June 26 has the cover of the previous time limit. They get 90 days after they receive the I.T.A. for submitting an eAPR. Moreover, the candidates who receive I.T.A.s in future draws will only get 60 days to complete and submit their eAPR. It is good for the candidates to be practical and efficient to complete the application for permanent residence in proper time.
People who receive the I.T.A. in the future should right away begin to work on filing their application. They must gather all the documents for the application. This includes work history, travel documents, credentials regarding education, test results of languages, and evidence of financial funds.
The documents which are sensitive to time are medical examinations and also the police clearance certificates. The medical examination has to be made by a physician approved by I.R.C.C. and it is time consuming to seek an appointment and complete the examination.
Police Clearance Certificate
Applicants must also include police clearance certificates from a country where they have lived for six months or above. Getting them depends on the country, and is complicated and time consuming. Consequently, the authorities will accept the evidence of application to obtain these certificates before the new 60 day deadline in the application. Depending on the country issuing it, the clearance certificates can be sent directly to I.R.C.C. If the applicant receives it will be his/her responsibility to add it to the application when I.R.C.C. needs it.
STEPS
After completing the application, the applicant must submit it to I.R.C.C. before the expiry of the deadline (60 days). The eAPR will then enter processing and an immigration official will review it. The decision regarding most applications is made in six months. The reviewing officer will inform the applicant in case of needing any additional documentation.
After receiving an I.T.A., the next step in the immigration process can cause some confusion and complications, owing to the short application deadline. The candidates can avail the services of an experienced immigration expert, and seek guidance through the process.
