Canadian Immigration Extending Further Support To Immigrants

Canada government is extending further support to immigrants and has started a new settlement programme for newcomers who move to Canada’s westernmost province of British Columbia. Nearly $500,000 is being invested for this, part of which will go towards the development of the Abbotsford Building Connections Project in the west of the city. This development will include the creation of two ‘intercultural hubs’ that will help to twin different school, business and faith groups in order to enhance relations between them. Also, it will help people from different cultures to settle in Canada and make it their home.

A local MP speaking on behalf of Canadian Immigration Minister said,“This project aims to push aside the obstacles to intercultural understanding and build lasting relationships among Abbotsford’s ethnocultural communities.”

The local Mayor, George Peary, stated, "By bringing together many partners to strengthen the social cohesion of our community, our project will have a great impact on Abbotsford."
