The former premiers of the Canadian provinces and intellectual society have stressed on the new immigration policies to attract a large number of immigrants to Atlantic Canada region. Atlantic Canada attracts only 2.5 immigrants to the province. Ageing, population, low birth rate and lack of skilled professionals are the primary issue associated with many provinces.
The former New Brunswick Premier reacting to the opinion editorial written by Frank McKenna has expressed imperative of welcoming the number of immigrants for the overall progress of the Atlantic Canada region.
To surmount ageing population and declining birth rate Canadian Federal Government has to introduce a new immigration policy. Mc Kenna, the present Deputy Chairman of Toronto-Dominion Bank in his editorial, discussed the less money raised from the different sectors such as health sector, education and stressed the importance of immigration to Canada Atlantic region.
Mc Kenna explained the Ottawa as an example of the development model and emphasized the significant contribution of the immigrants for the development of the area. On the similar lines, he expressed his desire for the progress of other regions by creating a base of immigration population.
