Several provincial programs over the nation are resuming their operations to bring immigration aspirants closer to the highly sought-after Canada PR status.
Provincial nominee programs (PNPs) offer a higher number of possibilities to immigrate to Canada for international citizens who have studied or worked in the province, and in some instances, for those who have not.
In spite of Canadian temporary travel limitations spurred by coronavirus, most PNPs are still conducting invitation rounds.
In the past couple of weeks, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (O.I.N.P) has conducted three draws. French-speakers, Entrepreneurs, and tradespeople in specific professions were targeted in these draws that all happened in late April.
So far in 2020, Ontario PNP has announced Notifications of Interest (NOIs) otherwise recognized as “invitations to apply” to:
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee (A.I.N.P) Program has held 8 draws so far in 2020, and 3 draws after coronavirus measures.
The Alberta's Express Entry Stream, which is controlled by the A.I.N.P, has conducted draws inviting federal Express Entry applicants with Comprehensive Ranking System (C.R.S) scores as less as 300 to apply for an Alberta provincial nomination.
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee (S.N.I.P) Program conducted 5 draws so far in 2020, inviting applicants from the streams of both Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand.
The draw operated after the start of coronavirus travel limitations targeted Occupation In-Demand applicants only, inviting 205 individuals from 71 professions to apply for a Saskatchewan nomination.
As part of specific coronavirus measures, S.I.N.P nominees can now demand an extension of 6 months to apply for Canada PR with the federal government.
The British Columbia PNP proceeds to hold draws constantly and inviting applicants with employment offers in the province and particularly those applicants working in the technology sector.
B.C. conducts Tech Pilot draws weekly, inviting applicants with employment offers in 29 eligible professions to apply for a BC provincial nomination.
In the 30 March and 16 April draws specific professions were left out of in the draw in reply to COVID-19 associated measures in the BC province.
The Nova Scotia PNP held its primary draw of the year on 27 April 2020. French-speaking Express Entry applicants were invited to apply for a Nova Scotia provincial nomination in this invitation round.
These Express Entry applicants required a Canadian Language Benchmark (C.L.B) of 8 in all French language skills. They also required a C.L.B of 6 in all English language skills.
