The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has reiterated its stand to improve and modernize the UK immigration policies. The body has expressed its concern over the existing immigration policies and which is creating hindrance to the progress of the nation's economy. The CBI asked the UK Government to reexamine its move towards foreign nationals and the present Tier 2 Visa system.
CBI director-general, Carolyn Fairbairn, says that lack of access to talent and requisite skill force is the major issue faced by the UK businesses in almost all sectors, this issue unites the business community. She said that UK needs to develop its people, and meanwhile stressed on to welcome the talent from the world.
Fairbairn also stressed on the people's concern about the immigration disturbing the social environment of the UK. Leading to large scale employment, she said that the move to cap Tier 2 visa will not impact the concerns of the people, and that will "not fit for purpose. Presently, UK requires homegrown talent; Government must create an atmosphere to bring out the talent pool from its system rather nullifying the Visa policies.
The government must provide conditions to improve the skill set of its citizens and meanwhile respecting the significant contribution of the foreign nationals for the economy. In the present globalization era, it is pre-requisite to welcome the immigration for the overall progress of our economy.
