Changes Made To Criteria In Quebec Skilled Worker Selection Grid

As of March 8th 2017, significant changes to the Quebec skilled worker selection grid have been made. The modifications are in a bid to promote better social and professional integration of immigrants and to improve their knowledge of the French language. The changes particularly apply to Areas of Training and Education Level.

The areas subject to change include:

The score for employability and the pass score for selection have both been raised.

Points which could be gained for certain areas of training have been reduced.

There are no longer additional points available for candidates from vocational secondary, or technical post secondary education, and who are applying for an area with training in demand in Quebec.

New applicants, who might be looking to submit a request for a Certificat de selection du Quebec, are advised to carefully consider whether they are eligible under the new regulations.

The rulings are applicable from March 8th 2017 and also apply to applications which have been received but not yet been reviewed.
