Those students who took assistance from Canadian Immigration and Integration Program (CIIP) have spoken about their success and are confident of finding jobs with their experience.
Immigration is key for Canada’s economic prosperity and population growth. However, even if there is demand for skills, many highly skilled potential new comers to Canada are remaining unemployed. To address this problem the government had launched Canadian Immigration Integration Program as a pilot program in 2007 and later on this developed into a full-fledged program in 2010. It is an initiative between the government of Canada and the Association of Canadian Communities Colleges.
CIIP was introduced with the objective to give support to newcomers to Canada and help them find jobs. According to a survey, it was found that 72 percent of the graduates from CIIP were able to find jobs within 12 months after coming to Canada.
Chris Alexander, Citizenship and Immigration minister has said that an additional $1.9 million would be invested in the CIIP program over the coming 6 months, and he also announced that the work with the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) is in progress to find new ways of the obtaining success with overseas services. This investment would help newcomers to achieve success in Canada.
CIIP is managed and maintained by the ACCC. CIIP currently assists new immigrants in 25 countries and its offices are located in the China, Philippines, India and the UK.
Alexander was speaking to graduates of CIIP and he said that since 2010, the government of Canada has invested more than $18 million in the program and over 25,000 people have utilized this program while they are still in their country of origin.
