Count Of Students From India Going To The US Is Rising: US Envoy

With each passing year, the count of pupils from India has been increasing as displayed by an enhancement in the number of visa applications which is processed by the American embassy in India. According to Thomas J Vajda, in the previous year, the number of requests rose to approximately 20% whereas visa applications submitted by students was more than 20%.

Vajda added that Indians comprise the second major group of the student community in the USA, next to China. The totality of Indian students pursuing studies in the USA amounts to 100,000. He further said that with the increase in the economy of India, more citizens are likely to visit the US which expedites travelling for the sake of investment, education, business and tourism.

From India, the number of visas issued was almost 900,000 while in Mumbai it was 300,000 alone last year. So, the allotment of visas in the previous year was 20% greater. New visa service facilities were being created in India for which hundred million dollars were being spent. Vajda also went on to say that The US embassy located in India was getting around 1,500 to 2,000 applications for visa on a daily basis. Most Indians are issued a visa for a span of ten years and statistics show that 65% of those who apply for H1B visas are Indians.
