COVID-19: Alberta PNP still Processing Applications for Immigration

Immigration Applications to Alberta province will proceed to be allowed and processed, but the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (A.I.N.P) has begun new temporary rules in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The A.I.N.P will now allow copies for all demanded documents, including signatures copies on forms. The authenticity of signatures and additional documents may require to be verified with a phone call or email.

Aspirants Can Submit Incomplete Applications

Candidates may be authorized to submit an unfinished application if they satisfy the below requirements:

  • Applied later 29 April 2020;
  • Meet all selection guidelines for their A.I.N.P stream;
  • Add a written statement regarding why their application is unfinished;
  • Present proof that they have asked the document, or that the issuing party is not running due to COVID-19;
  • If appealing for Alberta's Opportunity Stream, they include language examination results, or evidence that they have enrolled for a language examination on or before 29 October 2020; and
  • If applying for Alberta's Express Entry Stream, they include valid language test results and an Educational Credential Evaluation (ECA).

Candidates who have submitted their application on or prior to 29 April 2020 and who cannot produce documents should also:

  • Include a written statement regarding why they are incapable to produce the required documents;
  • Present proof that they have asked the document or that the announcing party is not running due to COVID-19.

For unfinished applications, Alberta Province will hold them for 60 days from the mailing date. Later 45 days, it will be decided whether or not the hold will be prolonged for another 60 days, and so on, for a maximum of 6 months.

At this point, a determination will be made depends on the information accessible.

Alberta's Express Entry Stream

The draws and nominations will remain as per normal below the Alberta's Express Entry. At this point of time, however, only applicants residing and working in the province of Alberta will be counted for nomination. To obtain a nomination, applicants must satisfy all conditions.

Applicants who were working full time before COVID-19 pandemic and those who are working in an authorized profession who can’t reach licensure terms will have their applications on hold for duration of 60 days.

If applicants have no latest employment history in the province of Alberta, those applications won't be processed until the next notice.
