CRS Score Of 440 Is Record Lowest For The Year In Latest Express Entry Draw

The immigration authorities Canadian issued 3,500 Invitations to apply seeking permanent residence in the recent Express Entry draw. It had the record lowest CRS score of 440 for the year. This draw was the 90th overall and the tenth round of invitations in the Express Entry.

Immigration Department can now set a fixed number to issue invitations. When the number of candidates having the least score surpasses the number of invitations authorized, they use the tie-breaking mechanism for issuing invitations based on the timing of arrival.

When candidate has the lowest score, then the cut-off depends on the date/time they have submitted the profiles.

Reasons for This Change in Express Entry

In the modern format, the immigration officials have great control in implementing the way, to select an exact number of candidates to get an ITA.  This was not possible in the earlier system.  In this draw the trend to have a low CRS score below 500 continued.

Express Entry is the modern immigration system that is under the use of immigration authorities of Canada since January 1, 2015. It supervises applications of skilled worker under Federal Economic programs by using the Canada Experience Class, the Skilled Trades Program, and the Federal Skilled Worker Program. There are also a few Provincial Nomination Programs in it.

Many Stakeholders are expecting that there will be 30 draws where around 70,000 invitations will be issued in the present year. Many draws will have a CRS scores lower than 450 so that the immigration authorities can meet the target of annual immigration levels.

Employers must get an LMIA or nomination in provincial nomination programs to facilitate retention of employees for a long term. The applicants can get an easy success as the Express Entry Immigration system now. They will mostly have a CRS score below 450 points in 2018.
