The growing ties between India and South Africa have been emphasized. South Africa has identified India as its strategic partner because the latter presents enormous trade and investment opportunities for the South African business. Stating this, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Elizabeth Thabethe, has laid stress that the economic links will lead to economic growth in her country. She was speaking at a business seminar in New Delhi that was attended by business people from both the countries. The seminar was part of the 4th Investment and Trade Initiative between the two countries.
“In South Africa, we are striving to enhance economic growth that will lead to an increase in the creation of decent, sustainable jobs, advance the fight against poverty and accelerate the economic transformation of South Africa. Over the years, South Africa and India have certainly been laying the best seeds of cooperation. It is now the time for these seeds to receive the necessary care so that they can spring to life in the months and years to come, and bear many high-quality fruits,” she said.
Elizabeth pointed out that India was one of South Africa’s key trading partners in the world and a partner in multilateral organizations such as IBSA (India, Brazil, South Africa (IBSA),G-20, World Trade Organization (WTO) and BRICS. India was also a key partner of South Africa as it sought to advance South-South relations.
