DIBP Warns Against Usage Of Fake Departmental Website

Australia’s DIBP (Department of Immigration and Border Protection) warned net surfers to be aware of an unauthorized website acting as an official site of the department.

The website, www.immigovau.co, poses as the present website of DIBP in layout and appearance, especially while using particular browsers.

According to a spokesman from the department, it was a well-disguised fake that needs to be avoided. All the Government websites of Australia end with the country code gov.au.

The spokesman said that while there is no sign of the department’s own website being compromised, it is still advised that net browsers who are searching for information regarding the department to make sure they visit the official site of the department at www.immi.gov.au.

He said that this issue is not exclusive to their department and is a general issue for organizations and companies which use websites to disseminate information to their clients.

Web users need to make sure that while looking for department related information they have the address www.immi.gov.au in their browser and avoid this unauthorized website.
